2 days a week (Mondays and Tuesdays)
We are looking for a Marketing and Communications Intern for 6 months starting in July 09. The successful candidate will be someone with a passion for the arts who is looking to gain some hands-on practical experience. The role is voluntary but provides a great learning experience and useful contacts to help you kick start a career in the arts and creative sectors. We support our interns in their job search and make sure the internship is as useful experience as possible. The SAF team is small and friendly. We are based in the heart of Southwark in Peckham. Please note travel expenses will be reimbursed (of the cost of up to a London Day Travelcard).
The role:
You will support on our communications to members, help market our events and services and update our website.
Produce SAF’s regular E-Bulletin – collating info on interesting events, opportunities and resources for our members. This will require a capacity for editing info and an eye for detail. It is great way to get to know the local art scene and opportunities available.
Update our website and Myspace page.
Support our marketing work to recruit new members in particular young people and community organisations.
Help on the organisation and promotion of our events
The main skills you will need are excellent communication (both written and verbal) and organisational skills. You may already have some experience of marketing and an interest in communicating to different audiences. You will need to be confident in using Word, Outlook and Internet searching. Experience of work on websites and of setting up social networking profiles would also be useful.
Southwark Arts Forum’s mission is to support artists, arts organisations and creative industries in Southwark to excel, and to have a greater impact on their local community. We do this by providing a wide range of networking, information and advice services such as our events, e-bulletins and one-to-one sessions. We has over 2000 members. They range from painters, musicians, filmmakers, dancers, photographers, sculptors, writers, poets, producers, designers, theatres, galleries, studios, arts organisations, community groups, education institutions, council staff, local businesses and much more.
