volunteers
Old Vic New Voices are looking for a number of voluntary research assistants to work on their forthcoming community project, Platform.
Platform will capture a snapshot of London in 2010. Using the thoughts, experiences and opinions of real Londoners as inspiration, we will create a new play with over 100 members of the community in Waterloo's newest underground venue, The Old Vic Tunnels.
Research assistants are required to increase the breadth and wealth of the research material which will provide the inspiration for the professional playwrights.
Tasks include:
• Assisting the Community Manager in co-ordinating the research
• Participating in Platform Debate events
• Identifying and Interviewing members of the community, in particular those who are hard to reach or are underrepresented
• Conducting filmed street interviews for websites such as YouTube
• Recording the research and sharing it with the professional writers
Hours will be a mixture of days, evenings and weekends. We are looking for confident and personable individuals from any background. They should have energy, enthusiasm and a clear interest in their community. Research experience is desirable but not essential.
Although the work is unpaid, it will be a great way to get involved in an ambitious community project with a prestigious theatre; you will receive a full credit in the programme and it will be a great addition to your CV.
If you are interested in becoming one of our research assistants, please e-mail [email protected] with your CV and brief covering e-mail, stating your availability and why you would like to work on the project. The deadline for applications is Monday 26 April at 10am.
