21 hours per week/12 month contract
This part time post is based in Bermondsey and covers Southwark and surrounding areas.
We provide a culturally specific service therefore, knowledge and understanding of issues facing
elderly Irish people living in an inner city is required.
JOB SUMMARY:
To establish an innovative and culturally specific Advocacy Scheme for elderly Irish people living in Southwark and surrounding areas
•To ensure that volunteers are equipped with relevant training and/or expertise
•To set up the administrative base for the Scheme, including filing system, case work logs, database of clients, referral agency list etc.
•To provide line management for 2 part time support workers
Experience and Knowledge

Experience of working with volunteers
Experience of successful project development
Sound understanding of vulnerable adults issues
Experience and knowledge of working with elderly people
Knowledge and/or experience of advocacy either paid or unpaid

Southwark Irish Pensioners Project (SIPP) is based in Bermondsey, offering day and community based services to over 400 elderly Irish people in Southwark and surrounding area. The Advocacy Scheme is a new project born out of need and demand from our members to have someone to speak up for them when they feel they are unable to do so for themselves.
