Community Garden Educator

Bankside Open Spaces Trust

Salary: Starting at £18336 NJC Scale 22 – 25 inc ILW

4 day week

About this role

We need a special person to help local people to develop themselves through food growing.

You will involve and support individuals through targeted work on social housing estates in SE1. You will help residents to develop food growing ideas on balconies and in their grounds, and you will lead regular food growing clubs for adults and children.

You will work closely with your manager to develop new projects, and will play a key role in recruiting residents to participate first by door knocking and discussion on estates, then by encouraging engagement with free starter packs at a Great Vegetable Giveaway event. You will give extra support to the residents who will benefit most from regular participation.

You will contribute to regular planning meetings with active residents, and Harvest Festival events to share produce, and gather evaluation information. You will use sustainable food growing to contribute to cross cultural celebration. You will be an important member of the BOST team working to help place food growing in the centre of our work.
