Better Bankside and Borough Market are recruiting a apprentice gardener, to help both organisations look after their green installations across Bankside, SE1.

The role offers a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and green fingered person to get hands on work experience and training over the next 18 months, leading to an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Horticulture with Capel Manor College.

The apprentice will be employed by Better Bankside, and will work jointly with both organisations as part of the apprenticeship.

As part of this position, the apprentice will attend classes at Capel Manor College one day per week for the duration of the apprenticeship.

PURPOSE OF THE APPRENTICESHIP

• To train the apprentice to be able to perform key gardening tasks within the remit of Better Bankside and Borough Market.

• To provide the necessary technical skills via a recognised qualification to support development of apprentice to achieve an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Horticulture.

• To provide a range of supervised experiences that develops the apprentice to work independently by the end of the programme.

• Physically able to undertake manual tasks when required

General requirements
• A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards work
• Willingness to wear uniform and protective clothing as required
• Willingness to complete 18 months of studies and training to obtain the required professional qualification.
