Overview: To support the youth and community work of Southbank Mosaics including our sessions with young offenders. To cover the studio work of the Director and support empowering innovation.
• Job Tasks To work with students and young people who come to the studio to learn mosaic making skills and contribute to our street installations
• To help young people make choices about the artwork they design and make and support them throughout the process.
• To support young people who are following accredited courses with their written and practical tasks
• Tutoring skills
• Ability to write student reports and case studies
• Interest and some practice in art
• Willingness to design and make street art and install street mosaics
• Experience of Youth Offending communities
• Ability to write and assist with commissions and earning income
• Ability to represent organization in publicity and in public
• Interest in social media and film
• Ability to mediate and problem solve
• Supportive and empathetic towards individuals with physical and mental impairments
• Team working and cooperative attitude
• Honest and reliable
• Good timekeeping (i.e. school standards)
• Physically strong for carrying and installing mosaics
Southbank Mosaics was started by volunteers in February 2004 – based in a disused workshop in the crypt of St John’s Church, Waterloo. The social enterprise remains a largely volunteer based project with about 200 volunteers each year working on a variety of public realm mosaic commissions.
