About this role

Southwark Cathedral has an opportunity for a volunteer to help with the running of a major VIP fundraising event, from the planning stages to delivery and legacy.

On 21st September this year, a traditional dinner will take place in the City of London, for 250 guests, with a world-renowned after-dinner speaker, on behalf of the Cathedral and the Southwark Cathedral Development Trust.

The length of time required is from 1st May until the end of October. The initial commitment will be one day a week and the day and evening of 21st September.

Person description

You will have the opportunity to increase your experience of events planning, and to support a prestigious event, that will provide you with a significant achievement on your CV, and a further stepping stone towards a career in events management or development.

You will be working with an experienced team, who can support you in expanding your knowledge and skills.

You will need to be articulate, organised and thorough, with a smart appearance. You will need to have excellent spelling and grammar, and be proficient in all the usual IT packages: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word etc. Your tasks will be carried out in a structured manner. You will be able to work with people at all levels and a variety of contributing organisations, be able to work within protocol, and have an unflappable manner.

About Southwark Cathedral & SC Development Trust

Southwark Cathedral was first built as an Augustinian Priory in 1106 and is now the Cathedral for the Diocese of Southwark. It is a well-known heritage site on the South Bank and has the Shard, London Bridge and Borough Market in its immediate environs. The office is a friendly and lively environment.
