Part-Time (Permanent)
To assist the General Manager with the day to day running of the building for the benefit of Rambert's staff and dancers, and other users of the building.
The Building Supervisor reports to the General Manager and in his/her absence, to the Company Administrator. The majority of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance of the building is contracted out; the Building Supervisor works closely with these service suppliers.
DUTIES OF THE POST INCLUDE
• To tour the building on a daily basis to ensure the premises are safe for staff and visitors.
• Be a named key holder and contact for out of hours emergencies that may require site attendance
• Be part of the team responsible for opening and securing the building each day and ensure the security of the building and its contents
• To supervise and liaise with contractors, suppliers and cleaners
• Respond to any building emergencies such as leaks, power outages, heating loss, and fire alarms
• Set up the building for each day's activities, including portering duties (e.g. moving tables or chairs) and ensuring dance studios have reached required temperatures
• Undertake any general repairs and redecorating that are outside the scope of the general maintenance contract
• Maintain relevant records; provide simple reports on maintenance/cleaning
• Attend any maintenance service activity that occurs outside normal operating hours
• Ensure the security of the building and its contents, and provide access and egress for authorised persons
• Conduct weekly fire alarm tests
• Assist General Manager in emergency procedures and assist with evacuations as necessary
• Replenish supplies such as soap and tea/coffee
• Log all deliveries to the loading bay and distribute as appropriate
• Use basic carpentry skills to assist the production team when necessary
• On occasion, supervise the premises when they are used by the Company or by external hirers outside normal working hours i.e. evenings and weekends
• Monitor the building management system (BMS) to ensure services are performing appropriately (training will be provided)
• Help maintain health and safety standards and compliance with legislation
• Attend occasional staff meetings, training sessions and other events, which may take place outside normal working hours
• Any other duties considered reasonable by the line manager
• At all times carrying out duties and responsibilities with regard to Rambert's policies and procedures, details of which are available from the Company Administrator

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE POST
Rambert is comprised of a team of highly skilled and committed people. All staff members are expected to contribute as appropriate to the Company's success and engage in the life of the Company.
Essential
• A minimum of one year's relevant experience of providing building services, especially in a high quality facility open to the public
• Multi-skilled, able to carry out routine maintenance tasks such as plant checks, basic plumbing and decorating jobs e.g. leaky taps, pipes, change light bulbs etc.
• Experience of supervising contractors e.g. cleaners, suppliers, contractors
• Basic carpentry skills
• IT literate, including experience of Word, Excel, and building management systems
• Able to move furniture and other bulky items
• The knowledge and presence of mind to assist in emergency situations, for example in the event of fire, flood, or forced entry into the building
• Working knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations
• Able to work without direct supervision and organise and prioritise own workload
• Good timekeeping and attendance record
• Available to work evenings and weekends if required
Desirable
• Working knowledge of modern M&E systems and controls
• Basic knowledge of lighting and sound equipment
• Valid powered access licence for types 3a
• Interest in arts, particularly dance
• Interest in environmental sustainability
• Clean driving licence
• Live in the area in order to be able to respond quickly in the event of an emergency call out
• Able to start within one month of job offer
