About this role

Oasis Charitable Trust is looking for After School Club staff to work at the Oasis Playspace, a dedicated fully equipped children’s centre located in Waterloo. There are 2 positions available – one Supervisor and one Sessional Playworker.
The successful applicants will be fully supported by the Children & Families Development Worker in their respective duties. The After School Club is a challenging, but hugely fulfilling opportunity for the right candidates. We are looking for people who can:
• Plan and deliver a high standard of structured activities for children in our care
• Cooperate and play a key part of a newly created team of caring professionals.
• Display an understanding of working with others from diverse cultural backgrounds or having disabled and special needs.
• Show experience of working and engaging with children from Reception to Year 6

Person description

Oasis Hub Waterloo –
• Knowledge of current legislation and good practice for the operation and delivery of a holistic support service for young children and families
• Knowledge of running a childcare provision in a similar setting in accordance with Ofsted regulations.
• Level 3 Childcare Qualification or proven equivalent experience.
• Experience of working in a community/school/children’s centre setting
• Proven experience of engaging with parents and managing a budget.
• Ability to plan and deliver activities
• Ability to work well in a team and lead/support as appropriate.
• Ability to undertake physical tasks necessary
• Ability to remain calm and ordered in a busy environment
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both children and adults
• Ability to take initiative and act in an effective and considerate way
• Sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being of the children •
• Knowledge and understanding of working with children and young people from diverse cultural backgrounds and provision for disabled children and those with special needs
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Willingness to provide references and obtain an enhanced DBS.
• To demonstrate commitment to the values and behaviours of the Oasis ethos.

The Oasis Playspace is part of the Oasis Hub Waterloo team, which serves Oasis Academy Johanna, Oasis Academy South Bank as well as a variety of integrated and diverse community projects which together have a common aim to bring transformation to the whole person and the whole community.
