6 month fixed term contract beginning November 2007
A number of churches located in Lambeth and Southwark have formed the ROBES Project to provide a winter night shelter for homeless people south of the river. Due to open in January 2008, we are seeking a project co-ordinator to help us build on last year's highly successful venture and run the project with the support of an established ecumenical management committee and a team of volunteers.
Prior to the opening of the winter night shelter, you will assist with ensuring the churches are prepared for receiving guests to stay overnight, that appropriate procedures are in place and that volunteeres have been recruited and trained.
From January, you will oversee the smooth running of the project. In particular as the key player in the referral process and in co-ordinating service provision across potentially 14 churches that will be opening their doors.
With experience in the field of homelessness, you will be a good organiser and able to work with and encourage a diverse group of people. In sympathy with Christian values, you will have compassion for those without home, hope and help. It is essential you are willing to work mornings and evenings when the project is open.
In return, we offer an opportunity to make a real difference in a groundbreaking ecumenical project for the homeless in South London, wih the potential to establish good practise for future years.
