About this role

Join the team at the Alice in Winterland Lantern and light Festival. We are looking for fun people that like social engagement and sometimes acting in character. We have a range of jobs available from 21st November 2018 to 5th January 2019 (excluding certain dates and Christmas day). Guests will be welcomed through Southwark Park’s magical gates into the sparkling world of Winterland. Families will immerse themselves in the enchanting fantasy world of Alice in Winterland in this fairytale adventure through thousands of twinkling lights and a trail with over 160 giant lanterns. From a 5 meter tall Alice to the life-size Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, 35 interactive and immersive scenes take you deep into Winterland. After seeing all the lanterns families can join a Mad Hatter Tea Party and visit a Christmas Market with food, drink, a tea cup ride and Santa’s Grotto.

Timing of work: This will be on a rota basis but the event times are between 3pm-10pm. You may be scheduled to work for some periods outside of these times.

Salary: we pay the London Living Wage

Father Christmas
Alice In Winterland is looking for a suitable character to play Santa in a Christmas Grotto in Southwark Park. Your role will be to meet and greet families in the Grotto, listen to children, take a family photo and pass out presents. You may be asked to help out with other tasks during the event including wayfinding / guiding before and after the event. Enhanced DBS check essential as working with children

Santa Helper / photo opportunity operator
Alice in Winterland is looking for those who can act in character to meet and greet guests to a Santa grotto. Responsibilities will include queue management, passing out gifts and working on a photo opportunity printing pictures. You may be asked to help out with other tasks during the event including wayfinding / guiding before and after the event. Enhanced DBS check essential as working with children

Wayfinders / Guides / safety staff
Alice in Winterland is looking for those who can help families and guests at our Alice in Winterland Lantern and light Festival Responsibilities will include helping guest find the event, guiding families inside the event and helping monitor guests. You may be asked to help out with other tasks during the event before and after the event. Enhanced DBS check essential as working with children
