Families Engagement Facilitator

Time & Talents

£26,000

Fixed term contract - 3 days per week

About this role

T&T offers a fun, lively working environment where no days are the same. You’ll be joining a passionate team who really want to make a difference. It’s a busy, hard-working, place where everyone has to muck in to make things happen – and is extremely rewarding, and genuinely unique.

We currently have a vacancy for our Families Engagement Facilitator role:

Your mission: Collaborate, build and grow; an opportunity to do real community development with families who live in a rapidly changing area. We’re looking for someone passionate about community development with the skills, experience, and personality to grow a programme of activities in collaboration with local families and volunteers.

Key responsibilities
• Set up a programme of weekly activity - a minimum of 10 hours per week - reaching a minimum of 150 people in T&T2, alongside a programme of regular small and large scale events, in collaboration with the wider team – as well as running some activities that have already been set up on this programme.
• Identify and support a minimum of 10 local volunteer community leader-parents, and 40 casual helper volunteers (including increasing engagement with some who have already been recruited)
• Support and facilitate a weekly programme of activities that will enable local families of all backgrounds and abilities - who may not otherwise meet or access our services - to build relationships and share skills. Lead on animating the T&T2 space with the support, participation and ownership of local people.
• This will include aspects of:
o Joint learning-based activity groups for children and parents
o Activities drawn directly from parent skills
o Drop-in volunteer-led groups such as family play clubs
o Additional parent support groups such as parents’ coffee mornings
o A range of new weekend family activities which meet local need and build bridges
This includes directly running and delivering some activities, and supporting volunteers and partners to deliver others:
• Undertaking extensive outreach in the community directly with local families, meaning that new, and harder to reach families are accessing the programme
• Maintaining excellent two-way relationships with referral partners including local schools, social services, and the wider community
• Supporting volunteer ‘parent leaders’ in setting up and running new groups and linking in more ‘casual helper-volunteers’ to support these groups

Specific responsibilities
• Plan and run a range of creative, enjoyable and safe play, learning and social opportunities for families
• Building and maintaining excellent two-way relationships with referral partners including local families, schools, health and social services, and the local community
• Carry out extensive outreach for activities, generating participation and strong referral routes
• Record and evaluate activity and its impact on individuals and groups
• To develop and maintain good relationships and communications with families and signpost families to other support/services as necessary
• Support volunteers and partner organisations to run high quality, safe activities as part of the programme
• Carry out administrative tasks related to the programme as required
• Ensure that activities are carried out in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with statutory responsibilities

Other tasks
• Participate in staff meetings, work proactively with the team, and contribute to the wider activities of the organisation
• Any other activities as deemed appropriate by the line manager
• Ensure that all appropriate T&T policies and procedures are followed through in practice, with guidance from line manager
• Undertake general tasks at the request of the line manager in order to maximise the smooth running of the charity and its work
• Provide cover for colleagues by agreement with the line manager in the event of staff sickness, leave, vacancies or other such temporary situations
• Take appropriate responsibility under the Health and Safety at Work Acts and to comply with all other Time & Talents policies
• Comply with Equal Opportunities legislation at all times
