About this role

We are looking for a dog walking assistant to join our incredibly professional, friendly, and knowledgeable team. You should be a natural dog lover and have a can-do attitude with great problem-solving skills. Previous experience in dog handling is preferable, but not essential as full training will be provided. If you enjoy lots of outdoor walks, cuddles and licks, this is the job for you. The ideal candidate will be self-employed and will work on a part-time/contract basis (minimum 4-5 weekdays) with the opportunity to be considered as a full-time employee in the future. You will have the opportunity to earn between £1200-1500 per month.

- Do you have a passion for dogs? Would you love to work with dogs every day?
- Do you like being outdoors and lots of walking in all weather?
- Are you available to work 4-5 weekdays (Monday-Friday) between 8:30am - 4:30pm?
- Are you confident and physically able to manage the needs of dogs and controlling them effectively as needed? (You will have a detailed on-the-job training with another professional dog walker for 4-5 weeks before you do walks on your own)
- Are you fit and active? Are you punctual? Are you trustworthy?
- Are you able to get to SE1 4TX postcode fairly easily every working day?
- Are you eligible to work in the UK and willing to be self-employed?
- Do you own a smartphone and able to operate it effectively to communicate coordinate work? (WhatsApp, photos camera, social media etc.)
- Are you ok cleaning up after doggie accidents?
- Does your heart melt every time a pooch looks at you like this?

Person description


A typical day will include picking up, exercising, socialising and having fun with our furry friends before returning them home. You will need to make sure each dog in your care is safe, happy and relaxed at all times. You may be responsible for up to 5 dogs at one time. However, you will build-up to this number of dogs as you are trained, your confidence grows, and experience is gained.

We provide dog care services all year round, most of your working day will involve you being outdoors. You will need to be prepared to come into work in all weathers and not be afraid of getting wet, covered in fur or muddy paws.

Dog walking is a very physical job; you must be fit and active. You must have good mobility. You will need to be able to be steady on your feet and be able to walk unaided for at least one hour at any given time during your day you will be required to interact with your dogs through play, which will include ball throwing, tug of war games and running with them. You must have good hand dexterity and grip to confidently hold dog leads and be able to un-clip leads/safety seat belts. You must be strong enough to handle an enthusiastic/pulling dog and also pick up and/or carry up a dog. Must be able to easily bend down to put on dogs walking equipment (or give cuddles and belly rubs).
This role requires you to be able to work independently as well as part of a team. You will need to be able to communicate with your team and clients in fluent in English.
You'll need to be honest, reliable and have good timekeeping and management skills. We are looking for someone with good problem-solving skills, someone able to make quick decisions to keep themselves and the dogs in your care safe. We do offer a lot of training opportunities and encourage team members to get to know everything dog, from characteristics, behaviour and positive enforcement training methods.
