Salary: £14,428 for 9 months (£19,237 pro rata)
Part-time (4 days per week), 9 month contract
We are looking for four 18–25 year olds to join our busy and successful theatre as part of our Young Vic Young Associates scheme. Based on The Cut in Waterloo, we produce around 25 productions each year with brilliant artists both national and international. A registered charity and theatrical powerhouse, the Young Vic is synonymous with inclusivity, accessibility and creativity.
The Young Vic Young Associates will be an integral part of the theatre. Each Young Associate will get an overall understanding of how their chosen department works and will get an opportunity to work on plays we produce, learning about how a production comes together, how to manage a venue, raise money, employ the creative teams, manage budgets, and work with schools, young people and the local community. The four different associate roles are:
Taking Part and Directors Program Young Associate
Press, Marketing and Audiences Young Associate
Production Young Associate
Producing and Development Young Associate
You may have had some experience of your chosen field through school/college or youth theatre, or through making your own work. You will have a strong desire to learn and develop the skills you need to work in the arts.
All applicants must live in the London Borough of Southwark.
We actively encourage people from a variety of backgrounds with different experiences, skills and stories to join us and influence and develop our working practice. We are particularly keen to hear from Black and Global Majority people, and candidates who self-identify as disabled. All candidates who self-identify as disabled who demonstrate that they meet the essential criteria will be invited for interview. The Young Vic is committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, caring responsibilities, disability, gender, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and sexual orientation.
We create performances that catalyse debate and are priced accessibly for our audiences, giving 10% of tickets away to those who experience barriers to engaging with the arts. We are deeply rooted in our local communities of Lambeth and Southwark, through Taking Part, at the same time as being internationally recognised for productions made with the world’s finest performers and creative teams. We are also proud to develop the next generation of emerging talent through our Directors Program.
