Based in the Coin Street neighbourhood centre, minutes from Waterloo and Blackfriars stations and on the doorstep of the bustling South Bank, we run an outstanding family and children’s centre which puts the child at the centre and uses our thriving neighbourhood as a living learning environment. Whether it is a trip across the river to Chinatown to celebrate Chinese New Year, visiting our neighbours at the Rambert for a dance workshop in their studios, a science workshop at in the labs at Kings College London or twinning the South Bank Sinfonia with our toddlers for an orchestral experience we tap into the natural curiosity and love of learning our children arrive with.
We are looking to recruit a Room Lead who will be a part of an Education team where each member uses their relevant skills to ensure the efficient running of the nursery. The team will provide high quality education and care in a stimulating environment, in the context of the nursery’s relevant policies
The Room Lead will ensure that children attending our nursery receive ‘outstanding’ care and education and lead learning and best practice "on the floor". In order to model best practice our room leaders will have robust knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. The individual must be highly motivated, driven by a love of child-led learning, be positive and organised and ready to direct and support a team of dedicated staff.
We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate the following:
- Childcare or Early Years Education qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3 or above a commitment to working in partnership with parents
- At least three years’ experience of working within an Early Years environment a can-do and enthusiastic attitude
- Knowledge and understanding of statutory frameworks relevant to early years’ services including Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Excellent spoken and written English and IT skills
- A full understanding of children’s development and learning from 0-5 years
- Experience in maintaining and managing the nursery environment, taking pride in their work
- A strong working knowledge of early help, safeguarding, child protection and paediatric first aid
