Person description

This is an extremely rewarding role, as well as facilitating the current day services (i.e. satellites in SW2, SE14 & SE16) part of your time as our Day Service Coordinator will be spent getting to know our clients and their families and carers to enable you to create tailored activity programmes focused on maximising everyone's wellbeing, independence and social engagement.

You'll need to be warm, empathetic and energetic to join us as our Day Service Coordinator. Your organisational skills mean you always get things done and make things happen. Meanwhile, your enthusiasm and creative approach will inspire our pensioners, volunteers and staff to get involved in activities both within the satellite day services and in the local community. You will need use of a car as there is a lot of ‘toing and froing’ from the different venues for which we provide a mileage allowance.

About Southwark Irish Pensioners Project

Southwark Irish Pensioners Project (SIPP) opened as a lunch club in 1994 for older Irish people in LB Southwark and surrounding areas (LB Lambeth & Lewisham). Over the years, we have grown providing day and community services.

We currently provide a comprehensive community support service that offers walk-in advice and information (currently by appointment on Tuesday and Thursday) advocacy, outreach, befriending (currently via telephone) and carer support to older Irish people living in south London and we are gradually re-opening our pub outreach and hospital visiting schemes.

Our satellite day services were closed during the pandemic which gave us an opportunity to review and refresh Our services and we can now offer an exciting opening for the right person.
We work to our core values which are
· to ensure our clients are central to the development of our services
· to respect each person’s dignity and
· to support our clients to feel valued members of society so they can enjoy a happy and dignified retirement.
A key element of all workers is to develop and maintain the organisation’s working ethos and culture.

Our philosophy is simple, we want our clients to enjoy life to the full. We never forget that all our clients are individuals and we want their days with SIPP to be a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. You will play an essential part in enhancing the well-being of each client, both Irish and non Irish. Any similar experience would be ideal, but it isn't essential.
