We’re looking for a children’s programme facilitator with strong delivery experience, enthusiasm for children’s development, and experience in designing and delivering children’s activities using arts, physical activity, gardening and food play. The children’s programme facilitator reports to the Delivery Manager and works in a team alongside two children’s programme assistants.
This part-time post plays a vital role in growing and delivering our children’s programme. It is an exciting opportunity to support us to deliver our strategy by building excellent, trusting, and appropriate relationships with children and their parents/ guardians, as well as strong partnerships with volunteers, schools and other community organisations. This post will also act as point of contact for queries regarding our children’s programme via the generic inbox and various social media accounts.
Therefore, the successful candidate will have a high level of experience leading children’s play and education. If you are outgoing, creative, flexible and take initiative, this is a fantastic opportunity for you.

Person description

Essential:
Early years/ primary teaching qualification or CWDC recognised, relevant Level 2 qualification, e.g. NVQ 2 in Playwork
Leading informal creative children’s play and education across a range of ages (0-11) including nature and garden-based activities
Supporting volunteers
Organising and running trips and visits safely
Building excellent, trusting, and appropriate relationships with children and their parents/ guardians
Working with schools and other partners on referral and information sharing
Recording, monitoring, and evaluating group activities, and the progress of individual children
Working with challenging behaviour and with more vulnerable children and their families
Safeguarding children in a community setting
A wide range of play/ learning skills
Able to run safe physical activity and encourage children to be more physically active
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills including Microsoft Office and Office 365 programs
Ability to use a database and maintain / monitor accurate records
Able to manage and prioritise workload and competing priorities
Digital literacy to deliver digital activities in the home e.g. (simple) YouTube videos, online sessions
Familiarity with a range of social media platforms
Creativity and an excitement to try new things
Energy and enthusiasm – a real people person
Genuine commitment to children’s learning through play
Commitment to the mission and ethos of the charity
Able to work occasional evenings and weekends by arrangement
Organised
Empathic
Team player
Able to work on own initiative
Alert to potential for new partnerships / opportunities

Teaching qualification
Forest School Level 3 qualification
Planning and executing community events
Prior experience of working in a very unequal community – by turns affluent and highly deprived

About Time and Talents

Time & Talents is a lively, busy community centre in the heart of Rotherhithe, London SE16. Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 134 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship, with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with children and families’ programmes and a range of volunteering projects. We are at an exciting stage of development. Our income has grown substantially in recent years and this growth has enabled us to develop our programmes and activities to reduce loneliness and social isolation in the local community by supporting more older adults, children and families.

We are an energetic, experienced, and passionate team of 17, with a strong sense of shared purpose and a lively sense of humour. You’ll have the chance to make a big contribution to a growing, ambitious and innovative organisation which has doubled its reach and impact in recent years.

This role is 3 days per week (22.5 hours), with flexibility for regular evening and occasional weekend working.
