Time & Talents, an award-winning community hub in South East London, is seeking a Trusts & Foundations Fundraiser with a proven track record of writing successful funding applications, and crafting persuasive cases for support. A part-time post, with remote working, the Fundraiser will work closely with the Director and Management Team to meet challenging income targets.

This post will play a vital role in strengthening our capacity as a community hub to continue to deliver high impact high quality programmes.

What we do

Time & Talents is a lively, busy community hub in the heart of Rotherhithe, London. Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 134 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship, with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with children and families’ programmes and a range of volunteering projects. We are at an exciting stage of development. Our income has grown substantially in recent years and this growth has enabled us to develop our programmes and activities to reduce loneliness and social isolation in the local community by supporting more older adults, children and families.

The role

In this role, you will:

Write well-crafted, exceptional quality funding applications to trusts and foundations

Develop ongoing cases for support for the organisation and in specific programme areas

Research funders and develop a strong pipeline of opportunities

Project manage bid writing including the contributions of others

Report to donors on outcomes

Contribute to the development of a fundraising strategy to meet income targets

About you

Most importantly, you must be a superb writer, highly skilled in crafting compelling cases for support. You must be able to demonstrate experience of writing successful bids for substantial amounts alone (as the sole writer), and with others contributing. You must have strong empathy with our cause and the mission of our organisation, and an understanding of the life of a small charity. We need somebody who is friendly and positive, who takes responsibility, and who is highly organised and skilled in multitasking and balancing priorities.

This role is part-time and based remotely, although you will need to be able to travel to our office in Rotherhithe regularly for face-to-face meetings.

Person description

ESSENTIAL:

Experience (work and tasks):
-Minimum of four years’ experience in charitable fundraising
-Track record of writing successful applications for grants from charitable trusts and foundations, both as sole writer, and in a team
-Experience of actively managing relationships with existing funders
-Knowledge of the charity sector and understanding of our cause
-Experience of reporting and presenting information for a variety of stakeholders
-Experience of developing and managing a pipeline of potential funders, and managing the bid-writing and submission process

Skills (e.g. PC, driving):
-Understanding of work in a small charity with limited resources
-Excellent relationship building skills, both inside and outside an organisation
-Strong multitasking abilities and ability to work to meet objectives and to meet deadlines
-Ability to work collaboratively in a team
-Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to undertake high quality funder research
-Good presentation skills
-Basic design and graphics skills
-Excellent standard of written English and numeracy skills
-Excellent digital literacy and IT skills including MS Office, Office 365 and experience of database use, with proven ability to learn new systems
-A high level of problem-solving skills

Competencies/behaviours:
-Friendly, positive and personable manner with a high level of energy and enthusiasm - Ability to work on own initiative, and learn independently
- Emotionally resilient, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with wide range of people
-Ability to work independently without close supervision
-Strong affinity with the mission and values of Time & Talents and the voluntary and charity sector
-Willing and able to undertake occasional out of hours working when required

DESIRABLE:

Qualifications (Academic, technical and professional):
-Institute of Fundraising qualification or similar
- Employment-related certificate or diploma

Experience (Work and tasks):
-Experience of working or volunteering in the voluntary and community sector
-Experience of managing a budget

Skills (e.g. PC, driving):
-Basic design and graphics skills

Set in a leafy heritage venue in an old mortuary (which is much nicer than it sounds!), as well as in T&T2, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, Time & Talents has something for everyone.
