3.1 Be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team of staff, communicating and working together to create an environment to support the needs of each child and family attending
3.2 Maintain a healthy and safe working environment
3.3 Promote and support the safeguarding of children and their families
3.4 Be a key person to allocated children, supporting their admission and transition through the care and education provided, undertaking home visits under supervision, writing developmental reports and the sharing of information with parents
3.5 Enable children and their parents to actively participate in the planning and carrying out of activities, personal routines and events within the setting.
3.6 Provide appropriate care for children attending, including washing, toileting, feeding, dressing, comforting and the giving of prescribed medication and related special care requirements (following training received)
3.7 Ensure that high quality curriculum planning, implementation and evaluation within the allocated team is carried out to support the needs of the individual child and group of children attending, with due regard for anti-discriminatory practice.
3.8 Support and enable other practitioners within the team to contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation process of the curriculum provided.
3.9 Be involved in the selection and maintenance of play materials and other resources to support the curriculum provided.
3.10 Carry out observations of individual and groups of children and develop and maintain appropriate individual profiles on each child.
3.11 Develop and carry out individual plans to support children with specific needs liaising with parents and other relevant professionals as appropriate.
3.12 Complete quality written reports for placement reviews; to support transitions, case conferences, IEP’s, TAC’s etc.
3.13 Encourage and promote parental involvement in the range of activities undertaken by the Nursery.
3.14 Participate in the wider developments of the Nursery as a community resource, including assisting as required e.g., supporting parent education and family support activities.
3.15 Work collaboratively with other agencies including when necessary attending case conferences and other relevant meetings on and off site.
3.16 Be reflective of personal practice and assist in the identification of own and teams training needs and attend relevant courses when required to keep up to date with current childcare and education practice.
3.17 To assist with the development of the Nursery - through effective participation in a range of initiatives which will include Investors in People, Quality Assurance Schemes, policy, and procedure development etc.
3.18 To work in accordance with ACT’s policies and procedures in respect of Equal Opportunities, Health, & Safety, Data Protection, Safeguarding and complaints procedure, and other ACT rules and procedures.
3.19 To assume delegated responsibilities in the absence of Coordinator (0-3)
3.20 To undertake any other duties which commensurate to the post.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. To hold a level 3 childcare and education qualification
2. To have a minimum of 1 years post qualification experience working with Under 5’s gained through employment in a childcare and education setting
3. Possess Paediatric First Aid Certificate – desirable
KNOWLEDGE:
1. An understanding of child development through out the age range
2. Knowledge of the issues faced by people living in a multi-racial community in an inner-city area
3. Knowledge of activities and learning materials relevant to 0-5 years of age
4. Knowledge of basic hygiene and safety requirements
5. Knowledge of the relevant guidance to support educational programmes and care provision (e.g. SEN Code of practice)
6. Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and other legislation relating to the care and education of children 0-5
APTITUDE AND SKILLS:
7. To be able to demonstrate effective communication skills
8. To have literacy skills of a standard, which will enable the post holder to write reports
9. To be able to contribute to written records on children’s progress which will be available to parents and other professionals
10. To be able to take appropriate courses of action in a situation when a child is at risk or in danger
11. To be able to recognise, plan for and respond to the basic physical, emotional, language and learning needs of children
12. To be able to share responsibility with other team members, to plan and organise activities appropriate to the needs of children
13. To be able to provide a safe and stimulating environment
14. To be able to value diversity and have the potential to work within ACT’s Equal Opportunities Policy
15. To have the potential to deal with issues / complaints involving parents, other professionals and the community following training and experience in post
16. To be able to respond to different methods of working as required
Arc Nursery is a Charity run Community nursery, we are situated close too London Bridge Station with good accessibility to buses, tubes and trains.
We are a large nursery with two main rooms, one is for babies and toddlers aged from 3 months to 2.5 years and the other is for toddlers and pre-schoolers aged 2.5 years to 5 years. We work in line with the EYFS and Planning in the moment.
We have the benefit of two garden spaces, one is outside the preschool room and one is a roof garden where we love to grow our own produce. We are close too many exciting and interesting local parks and areas where the children regularly access for exercise and fun.
The nursery is open 52 weeks a year closed only for bank holidays and 3 inset days for staff training, the hours of opening is 8am to 6pm.
