About this role

We are looking for a freelancer to assist the maintenance sub-group coordinate the responsive maintenance service as well as additional administrative tasks.
Ideally you’re proactive with a ‘can-do’ attitude; a problem solver with a strong commitment to quality. You enjoy being active e.g., part of the role requires visiting BSHP’s tenants to respond to, and assess their maintenance requests as promptly and efficiently as possible; generally providing excellent customer service.

You will mainly be responsible for:
• Responding promptly to tenants’ maintenance requests
• Liaising with both the co-op tenants and contractors to ensure work is delivered in a timely fashion and according to our maintenance procedures
• Tracking data and keeping within the maintenance annual budget
• Developing, maintaining, and managing the portfolio of approved contractors for the co-op
• Managing the relationship with contractors to ensure issues are dealt with within agreed service levels
• At times you will also be required to work and coordinate with Hexagon Housing Association and their Maintenance team.

Essential
• Self employed
• Flexible - the role can sometimes be busy, very quiet at others
• Proven experience tracking budgets for projects
• Knowledge and experience using online databases and IT including Google Drive and Microsoft Office
• Great customer service skills
• Excellent planning and time management skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable
• Live locally to SE17
• Proven experience working in a housing co-operative
• Proven experience working within a maintenance services capacity
• A recognised Maintenance Qualification Level 2 or above. NVQ or Certificate in Maintenance or equivalent would be desirable.
• Knowledge and practical experience of delivering front line housing maintenance services with previous exposure to housing refurbishments and health and safety requirements

About Balfour Street Housing Project (Co-operative)

We are an organisation run by its members who are in control of their housing, in return for taking responsibility for their own housing management. The 21 flats which make up BSHP are owned by Hexagon Housing Association, but the overall day-to-day running of the properties is managed by the co-op's members.
