Programme Coordinator - Social Model of Health

Pembroke House

£28.1K FTE per year (pro rata)

3 days per week; 18 months

About this role

Your role will involve coordinating the delivery of the Social Model of Health within the Walworth Living Room.

The Walworth Living Room is a relatively new venture for Pembroke House. It is a "living room" for the Walworth neighbourhood, a space currently open to the public Thursday and Friday from 10pm to 3pm for people to hang out, enjoy various activities, build relationships with each other, eat, learn, share and create. It is a place where people can work together to develop models of collective support and of collective control over community resources.

The Social Model of Health is a new project where we hope to engage our neighbourhood on what it means for us to experience healthy, thriving lives, and start to build the collective resources, tools and capacities to enable that future within the neighbourhood. The project includes three strands;

• Engagement, creativity and imagining alternatives

• Resourcing and capacity building within the neighbourhood, with a focus on, holistic approaches to health including but not limited to somatic practice and trauma informed approaches

• Evaluation and learning

You will coordinate the delivery of these three strands, working in partnership with the Walworth Living Room Team, Director of Programmes and project partners. This will involve organising learning sessions or deep dives for the neighbourhood across a range of topics or issues, coordinating and creating engagement activities, commissioning somatic or holistic health practitioners to deliver training and capturing learning along the way.

About Pembroke House

Pembroke House is a centre for social action and residential community in Walworth, south-east London. We were founded in 1885, by students from Pembroke College, Cambridge, as one of the first settlement houses. Shocked by growing poverty and inequality, the pioneers of the settlement movement sought a new approach: taking up residence to live, work and solve problems alongside local communities.

For over 130 years, we've been working to bridge traditional divides and unite people – whatever their background or walk of life – in building a better Walworth.
