Thousands of people lined the banks of the Thames on Saturday night to watch a spectacular fireworks display to mark the start of London's Olympic year.
@PaulLomax Can't help thinking that people would also complain if London's Olympic year had started with a whimper, though
@PaulLomax I suspect @LondonAssembly members will table a few questions. Though for once probably not worth carping as it was a good show
@PaulLomax It's possible. The £1.9m allocation was signed off in September http://t.co/kPZqLY4O but I've not heard anything subsequent
@GazTheJourno No idea. Not seen/heard that claim.
Should be noted that the stewarding, logistics etc costs much more than the pyrotechnics
Just noticed 100s of people have arrived at SE1 site today after searching for the cost of the fireworks. Answer: £1.9m http://t.co/Vtyz5pH5
