Six years after it was first announced, a plan to create a 'cycle superhub' with secure parking at Waterloo Station has been revived.
David Lammy - the Tottenham Labour MP who is seeking selection as his party's candidate for Mayor of London - has accused boroughs like Southwark of "rolling over" to developers.
Heritage minister Tracey Crouch has updated the entry of Waterloo Bridge on the national heritage list to recognise the role women played in its construction during the Second World War.
Two historic Southwark pubs have been listed as 'assets of community value' under the Localism Act following applications by the Walworth Society.

@SouthwarkNotes That includes all the flats above - guess it might be more realistic to negotiate deal for pub element only.
@SouthwarkNotes £1.9m
@SouthwarkNotes @bridgewithout @WalworthSociety Yes, pretty much. But without ACV, even that limited safeguard doesn't apply.

@jyatak A new management will have no problem gaining licences.
@jyatak The licences were taken away because the council & police didn't have confidence in the people running the pubs.
@jyatak Yes but the fact of not having a licence is a minor point in the overall situation. It is not a barrier to the pub(s) reopening.

@jyatak @WalworthSociety Responsible pub operators wouldn't have any problem gaining a licence for either premises.

@noodlemaz If I was writing about the late Archbishop I would write Thomas Becket - but the pub on OKR has always had the 'a' in the name
