Dear readers, advertisers and supporters,
The London SE1 community website is 24 years old this year.
We've published more than 10,000 news items and 20,000 event listings, and there have been tens of thousands of postings on our discussion forum.
We've sent out more than 1,000 editions of our weekly email bulletin, full of news and information.
For me, being a reporter in SE1 is the best job in journalism - it's an area jam packed with fantastic stories to tell.
My family and I have kept the project going in the hope that eventually the website would pay its way.
Sadly, the sums just don't add up any more and in 2016 we came very close to making the hard decision to shut the website. We had even written a draft announcement of closure.
However...
Many of you have told us that you appreciate and value what we do.
We believe that local journalism and community information is important, too.
It's no secret that times are tough for news publishers of all kinds.
Changes to the advertising market, the rise of ad-blockers and the stranglehold of the big social media networks all make it hard for small content producers to survive and thrive.
Please support the future of the London SE1 community website by joining our membership scheme.
