Dairy to be lost for sports hall?

Some of the threatened buildings in Borough Road
Obelisk Dairy at St George's Circus is threatened with demolition. South Bank University wish to replace the Georgian terrace with a new complex incorporating a sports hall. The University claims that the new building will benefit the community. The houses are important enough for the Georgian Group to ask for the terrace to be listed. Group secretary Neil Burton says: "The new buildings are huge and completely out of scale with the historic character of St George's Circus. There is room on the site for a scheme which would include both the refurbished Georgian terrace and new buildings and such a scheme could set a regeneration example." Now that the obelisk has been restored is the Obelisk Dairy to be lost?
