The Globe's own Mark Rylance is to be joined by scores of stars for a night of revelry inspired by Shakespeare.
The benefit night at Shakespeare's Globe on Saturday 20 March is in aid of the Tibetan Peace Garden being built near the Imperial War Museum. £300,000 is needed to complete the project largely paid for by Tibetan people. The Garden will be opened by the Dalai lama on 13 May.
The fund-raising committee, headed by Zoë Ball, Marie Helvin and Miriam Stoppard, has enlisted the help of Jack Dee, Richard E Grant, Vinnie Jones, Jimmy Nail, Vanessa Redgrave, Paul Scofield and many others who will be appearing on the Globe's stage for the music and merriment.
The show directors are Trevor Nunn, John Caird, Dalia Ibelhauptaite and David Thacker.
Seats are £30 and £40. 'Groundlings' stand for £20 but residents of Southwark can stand for just £15. As March is a little early for the roofless Globe to be open guests are being advised to remember to dress warmly. Box office: 020 7403 7400.
