£200,000 raid in Waterloo

Two men have raided a security van in Waterloo and made off with £200,000 after overpowering a guard as he loaded the money into his vehicle.

The raiders struck in Meopham Street and took the cash from a Securitas van before escaping on a low-powered motorcycle.

A police spokesman said: "It is believed at this stage that £200,000 was taken when a security guard, who was transferring cash from the station, was set upon."

"Neither of the two guards received injuries and it has not been confirmed whether a firearm was involved," he added.
