Frederick Matthias Alexander introduced the revolutionary Alexander Technique to Britain in 1904. It is now used worldwide by performing artists and athletes.
Learning can positively help to prevent or alleviate conditions associated with undue tension or poor posture. These include difficulties with coordination and movement, joint and muscle problems, breathing disorders, and stress-related conditions.
It can enhance rehabilitation after surgery, injury, or illness and provide support during pregnancy and preparation for childbirth.
The South Bank Alexander Centre is celebrating the centenary by offering an introductory discount (£10 per person) for lessons booked during Alexander Awareness Week 14-20 June.
The centenary open day is on Wednesday 16 June from 12 noon to 2.30pm when visitors can try out AT on the spot and receive a free £10 introductory lesson voucher.
