Big plans for Old Vic
Matthew Warchus has been appointed artistic director of Waterloo's Old Vic theatre.
The company's plans for 2002 include a stage version of Daldry's film Billy Elliott, and a musical based on the hits of Madness.
Neither of these shows are likely to be staged at The Old Vic, but the troubled theatre will benefit from any profits they make.
Warchus is no stranger to the Old Vic, having directed last year's production of Yasmina Reza's Life X 3 at the world-famous Waterloo venue.
