No alcohol at the City of Wine

London SE1 website team

Diners at Cantina Vinopolis and guests at a KPMG corporate function on Thursday night had to bring their own wine to the Bankside attraction after solicitors forgot to renew the licence.

Luckily diners and guests were able to take advantage of the on-site Majestic wine warehouse in Stoney Street.

Technology executive Tom Parker told the Evening Standard: "It was quite funny to arrive at the City of Wine and find that they couldn't serve any."

Vinum restaurants director Trevor Gulliver went to court on Friday morning to renew the licence. He said: "It was caused by our solicitors forgetting to renew our drinks licence. This only affected us for a day but we simply couldn't run the risk of selling alcohol without it."
