Suspicious charity collector in Shad Thames

London SE1 website team

Police in Southwark are asking residents of the Butler's Wharf area to be on the alert for a man claiming to be a charity collector.

Police say that anyone approached by someone claiming to be collecting for a charity should be sure to ask for formal identification.

Several reports have come in recently to Southwark Police about a man operating on the riverside walkway and around Shad Thames. CID at Walworth Police Station are investigating.

If you believe you have seen this man, if he has approached you or if you have any information, please contact Detective Constable Darren James at Walworth Police Station on 020 7232 6145.

The question of charity collectors operating on the riverside has been a hot topic in the London SE1 forum.
