Well in fact it does. Two years have passed since Peter (Tobey Maguire) made the ultimate sacrifice to walk away from his beloved Mary Jane/M.J (Kirsten Dunst) and the challenges that face Peter are greater than ever – proving that not all superheroes live happily ever after. Anguished by guilt and troubled by his secrets, Peter begins to wonder if the gift of his superpowers is really worth the sacrifice and emotional pain he endures.

Then comes along a new nemesis to add to the problems. When the experiments of well-intentioned Dr Octavius (Alfred Molina) go wrong, an ogre in the form of 'Dr. Octopus' is unleashed to terrorise the metropolis. It's then up to Peter to decide whether to put aside his personal yearnings once more to help save the city from destruction.
