Captain sought for Golden Hinde

London SE1 website team

The Golden Hinde, the reconstruction of Sir Francis Drake's galleon berthed at St Mary Overie Dock, is seeking a captain as the ship prepares to take to the seas again.

Golden Hinde

The charity which runs the 16th century ship is looking for someone with an interest in wooden ships to oversee the maintenance of The Ship and help keep her in a seaworthy state. A suitable candidate will work with the trustees of the charity to formulate a work plan and assist in managing a small team, including a volunteer crew.

The Golden Hinde left Bankside last year for a visit to the Southampton Boat Show and the trustees are planning other voyages in the near future. The part time position is voluntary. Interested applicants should write to Kristin Lohe, The Golden Hinde Education Trust, St Mary Overie Dock, Cathedral Steet, London, SE1 9DE or email [email protected]">[email protected]
