Human Rights lawyer Lord Lester is voting 'no' in the Southwark Mayor referendum.
"My experience in fighting for the rights of individuals against the state makes me worried about Political Mayors" says the Southwark-based peer. "Our local democracy will be weakened if one person has all the power."
Also joining Lord Lester in voting 'No' is former union leader and Labour veteran Jack Jones who says: "Giving all the power to just one person is obviously dangerous."
Terry Jones, Monty Python actor and another famous Southwark resident, says: "The vote on Thursday 31 January is very important. I ask everyone to do their civic duty and cast their vote. And for the sake of our local community I ask you to vote 'No'.
