Fire crews worked quickly to get five people out of a building on Alice Street on Thursday night, just hours before half of it collapsed.
Firefighters arrived at the scene after receiving a call from a worried resident who had noticed a large crack appear in the side of the three storey building. Fire crews called an emergency building surveyor, closed the road to traffic with police assistance and kept the area safe.
The fire brigade was called at 11.48pm. A crew from Old Kent Road fire station attended the incident.
