SWT strikers meet in Blackfriars Road

Striking rail workers based at Waterloo have held a lunchtime rally at Christ Church in Blackfriars Road today. Those attending included acting RMT union leader Vernon Hince.

Speaking outside Christ Church live on BBC1 Vernon Hince blamed today's Waterloo stoppage on South-West Trains management's decision to halt negotiations and talks which were taking place at nearby Friars Bridge Court.

One third of normal services have been run today with the help of SWT office staff from Friars Bridge Court in Blackfriars Road who have recently been trained as guards.

On Wednesday, the first full day of mormal service, the Rail Workers Solidarity Group is planning a public meeting at the Crown & Cushion in Westminster Bridge Road.
