Police are appealing for any information concerning a vicious attack on a 30-year-old man in Weston Street on Monday 2 May.
At approximately 6am the victim was walking with his girlfriend in Weston street, having just left a nightclub. As they approached their car, they noticed the tyre was flat.
As he bent down to inspect the tyre, the victim was suddenly attacked by a group of men. They began to attack him with a bottle and an iron bar, hitting him repeatedly in the head.
The victim managed to break away and was helped by a passer-by. He was taken to hospital and later received surgery for a wound on his neck.
The suspects are described as around six in number. They were aged approximately 20 to 30 years and are believed to have made off in a silver Renault Scenic.
Southwark CID is investigating the incident.
"The violence of this attack was quite alarming," said DS Jane Corrigan. "As well as inflicting severe injuries on the victim, it left the victim's girlfriend traumatised as well.
"Although it was very early in the morning, there would have been other people leaving the club or in the area who might remember seeing anything of the incident or a group of men in a silver Renault Scenic. I appeal for any information to help catch these men."
The number to ring with any information is 020 7232 6166, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.
