Passers-by on Lambeth Palace Road last Sunday may have been surprised to see a helter skelter being unloaded outside St Thomas'. It's the latest addition to the new Evelina Children's Hospital which opens this autumn.

The helter skelter, commissioned by Guy's and St Thomas' Charity and designed by sculptor Liliane Lijn, will provide entertainment for children whilst they await their appointments at the new hospital.

Guy's and St Thomas' Charity commissions artwork for the capital projects it supports. The charity awarded £50million towards the cost of building the new hospital. A further £10 million came from the government. The remaining £10million is being raised by the Evelina Children's Hospital Appeal which comes under the auspices of the Charity.

The Evelina Children's Hospital is part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
