The Mayor of London has condemned the eviction of the Saatchi Gallery from County Hall on the South Bank.
In a statement the Mayor, Ken Livingstone, said: "I utterly condemn the eviction of the Saatchi Gallery from County Hall. The Gallery opened up many parts of County Hall that had remained restricted to the public for far too long, and was an excellent addition to London's thriving South Bank. This is a landmark building in a prime location, near to the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye. To evict the Saatchi Gallery from this important site is a disgrace."
County Hall, as the former home of the Greater London Council, is a subject close to Mr Livingstone's heart.
