Take your odd socks to Tooley Street

London SE1 website team

The Unicorn Theatre is calling on SE1 residents to drop off their odd socks in the theatre foyer for use in the new musical Yikes! which opens next week.

The show's opening scene calls for a "sock-tastic" explosion, and so the company is calling on Southwark residents to pull their socks up (groan) and help out.

"We need as many socks as possible – the more colourful the better!" says
stage manager Emma Basilico. "Because we're a brand new theatre, our wardrobe department's still too new to have a full-grown sock monster so we're hoping people will knock our socks off and make sure we've enough hosiery to make Yikes! happen."

Locals are being encouraged to place their odd socks in a special laundry basket that will be in the Tooley Street theatre's foyer until the show opens on Thursday 6 April.
Following the exploits of a misfit family on their haphazard day out to The Old Graveyard, Yikes! is described as a "frighteningly funny" musical for everyone aged 6+.
