The Value of Art is a recent partnership project between two SE1 organisations, Blackfriars Settlement and Tate Modern. Q website has been developed through discussions and practical sessions to consider issues about art and the local area.
The work and the viewpoints expressed on the Value of Art website www.valueart.org are on display in the Clore Education Centre at Tate Modern until 29 September.
Also included in the exhibition are details of another project called Reconfiguring your Landscape. This was an eight-week project in Summer 2002 – members of the Blackfriars community produced creative works on computers around notions of identity, mapping, geography, imaginary and real landscape, sense of place and history.
Kathy Prendergast's 'Lost', a recent acquisition to Tate Modern's collection, initially inspired the works. Using ICT skills, digital imaging and other creative tools, members of the community explored the above ideas and their own thoughts. The work was then transferred to UK Online's website www.funit.org
