City Hall cafe "should accept euros" says assembly member

A London Assembly member is calling on the Mayor to ask the cafe in City Hall to accept payment in euros. City Hall, the home of the Mayor and London Assembly, is proving a popular attraction for tourists and Londoners alike.

Len Duvall AM says: "London cannot simply ignore the euro. It makes sense to accept euros in City Hall. The Tower of London already does. The London Eye does. A third of shops in Oxford Street take the euro. London is home to 108 of Europe's top 500 companies. 80% of euro bonds are issued just a stone's throw away in the City. We should make clear to anyone who visits us that the GLA believes London is very much a part of Europe, and we can do that by welcoming the euro in City Hall."
