Baby snatch attempt at Guy’s Hospital

42-year-old Norita O'Malley, from north London has also been charged with possession of cannabis.

At approximately 9.10pm on Sunday a woman entered the labour ward on the 13th floor of Guys Hospital and attempted to take a newborn baby boy. The baby was with his mother in a room within the labour ward at the time of the incident.

The woman entered the room and picked up the new born baby from a cot. Immediately, staff and the mother became concerned and asked her to put the baby down, but she refused. The woman did not leave the room in the labour ward with the baby.

The baby was taken from her and security guards were called. They contacted the police and detained the woman until officers arrived.

The baby was not harmed and has been reunited with his mother.
