Oxo Tower and Pont de la Tour ‘overpriced’ says poll

The Oxo Tower restaurant has topped the poll for both 'the most disappointing cooking' and the 'most overpriced restaurant' for a second year.

The same listing, produced by the guidebook Harden's London Restaurants and based on the views of 7000 frequent diners, for the first time includes Le Pont de la Tour on Butler's Wharf.

Peter Harden, co-editor of the latest guide, says that the Oxo Tower's cooking "has long been regarded as a joke". The Harvey Nichols-run restaurant was recently under fire for being reluctant to serve tap water to Christine Hamilton who was being entertained to lunch by a television company.

The guide also suggests that prices at the more expensive restaurants have risen well above above the rate of inflation.

Harden's London Restaurants 2003 is published next month (Harden's £8.99)
