An insurance firm millionaire was sectioned on Monday after his 2-year-old daughter was found with life-threatening head injuries at their Parliament View home.

36-year-old Alberto Izaga, a senior executive with Swiss Re, was arrested after his daughter suffered a fractured skull and brain damage on Sunday morning.

Police were called to the £1 million apartment near Lambeth Bridge after neighbours reported hearing a child screaming, a woman crying and a man shouting at 8am on Sunday morning.

The girl was rushed to nearby St Thomas' Hospital where her condition is described as life threatening.

Zurich-based Swiss Re, which has its London offices in The Gherkin, has suspended Mr Izaga whilst the investigation is carried out.

On Monday police confirmed that Izaga has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
