Dr Victoria Anyetei, a paediatrician who worked at St Thomas' Hospital, has been stabbed to death outside her home in Dartford.
Relatives discovered the body of Dr Anyetei, 53, in the front seat of her car outside her home in Dartford on Tuesday morning.
A post mortem showed that Dr Anyetei had suffered multiple stab wounds as she got into her car at around 8.20am on Tuesday. Kent Police are now combing the area looking for the murder weapon.
The Ghanaian-born doctor had worked as a locum consultant paediatrician at St Thomas' Hospital for the past eight months.
"We were extremely sad to learn of Dr Victoria Anyetei's tragic death and our condolences go out to all her family and friends," said Dr Frances Flinter, clinical director of children's services at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
"Victoria had a lovely warm manner with the children she cared for and they in turn always responded very well to her.
"They liked having her as their doctor. She was also the sort of doctor that parents instinctively have faith in and she will be very sadly missed by her patients, their parents and all her colleagues."
