A couple of weeks ago a suspected Banksy appeared on the river wall at Bermondsey Wall West, but attempts were soon made to paint it over.
In 2005 works by Banksy in Clink Street were painted over.
There was also a minor controversy when a Banksy piece was painted over by Network Rail in Leake Street, under Waterloo Station.
