The Prime Minister came to Lambeth Road on Wednesday to visit the Metropolitan Police's new special operations room at Lambeth Central Communications Command Centre.
The Prime Minister was shown around the building by Commander Simon Foy who highlighted the role that the room played in the aftermath of last year's attempted Haymarket bombing saying that it was "the nerve centre around which we built the resassurance plan of policing London".
Known as 'GT', the new high-tech operations room is believed to be the largest of its kind.
Mr Brown's visit came as he prepared to outline the Government's plans to deal with security threats to the UK in a National Security Strategy.
Later in the day he visited City Hall to open the Black Britannia exhibition.
