Six south London girls have been named as the first Head Choristers and 'Corner Girls' of Southwark Cathedral Girls' Choir.

Lavinya Royes who lives in SE1 is one of the new Launderer Chanters and a Head Chorister who now wears a badge on a blue ribbon. The badge has been endowed by the Worshipful Company of Launderers.

Other Head Choristers come from New Cross and Kennington. The Girls Choir was formed as part of the Cathedral's Millennium celebrations. In addition, four girls who have completed their probationary period were admitted as Choristers and received their surplice.
