'Dangerous' prisoner escapes from Crown Court in Newington Causeway

Police are appealing for assistance tracing a man who absconded from Inner London Crown Court in Newington Causeway on Monday morning.

32-year-old Paul Reid is serving two years imprisonment for indecent assault after being convicted at Inner London Crown Court last week.

He was re-appearing at the court for an appeal hearing when he absconded from the courtroom at approximately 11am on Monday.

Reid is described as black male, approx. 5'10" tall with a muscular build. He was last seen wearing a black fleece jacket and blue jeans.

Reid is known to frequent the Plaistow area.

Officers say that he is considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Anyone who may know of his whereabouts, or who may have seen him, should call Southwark Police on 020 7232 6145 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
